The scanner was extended with some new features. In addition to the harddrive check you can now optionally scan the memory for malware too. Beside the signature scan which includes more than 90,000 references, the new heuristic scan allows you to scan for unknown malware without using signatures. From now on, you are protected much better than before against Trojans, Worms, Dialers and Spyware/Adware.
News in a-squared Personal:
The most important new feature of a-squared Personal is the IDS System. IDS stands for Intrusion Detection System. That means, a system which is able to detect and prevent any intrusion of malware automatically.
The a-squared background guard continuously analyses the behavior of all started programs. If a program shows potential harmful behavior, it will be stopped. You get an alert window to decide by yourself if the program is allowed to run any longer or if you want to block it permanently. This new IDS technology of a-squared is worldwide unique.
If you get a lot of alert messages after updating to version 1.6, please check each questionable program seriously. Is the program well known and started by yourself (like the web browser), or is the program possibly malware? The IDS system works like a desktop firewall. After installing it, you allow or deny the execution of all questionable programs to get a perfect security configuration of your computer.
