Exploits for current Windows security flaws

The first exploits have been seen for the security flaws in Windows for which warnings were issued last week. These flaws could allow attackers to take complete control of a computer.

Microsoft warned users of Windows with nine security bulletins about newly found critical security flaws. At the same time the necessary security updates were released for public download. Only a few days later, the first attacks using these flaws were seen. The flaws are located in the operating system components Collaboration Objects, MSDTC and COM+.

The exploits mainly target Windows 2000, but Windows XP and 2003 Server are also affected. Be aware that additional Malware using these flaws will be developed in the next few days and weeks. In the worst case, a new worm will come out which spreads very fast around the world with the help of these flaws.

To protect your PC against such attacks, it is strongly recommended, to install the latest Windows updates or download and install the patches manually:

The a-squared Personal background guard protects your PC against Malware using the security flaws to enter your system. But to close the flaws, it is required to install all available Windows updates.
