New scam on Facebook
Our malware analyst team has recently found that fraudsters are now not only earning money through spreading Malware on Facebook. Even specially developed applications are used to obtain money from a user’s private Facebook data.
Up to today first of all Trojans and other kinds of Malware gave the users of the infamous social media platform Facebook a hard time. Now there additionally are specially developed applications to alter personal data into cash. The version we found promises surplus by allegedly showing detailled visitor statistics of one's profile. Of course this is not the case as Facebook does not allow any third party statistics tool.
The good news: there is no direct threat for the security of your computer yet. The betrayers use an indirect strategy to gain money: during the installation of the application a survey has to be completed. In combination with the personal data deposited at Facebook the results can then be sold to some companies.
